ParticipantHi, I found this forum whilst googling for info about ‘American style’ fridge freezers.
Our old Beko FF that has started to frost-up on the back of the auto-defrost fridge, as it is over 8 years old I decided to look for a replacement. The only single FF capable of increasing on the capacity (150lt fridge/100lt freezer) of the old Beko appears to be side-by-side FFs.
I thought I had finally decided on a model – the Samsung RSH5SHSW, even though I was concerned about the reliability problems that Samsung have had. However when I checked on their website it seems the RSH5SHSW is climate class T – which it says operates between temperature range 18C – 43C. Well obviously the upper range would be fine, but the lower range is likely to be ‘breached’ in winter. Even though the FF will be in the centrally heated house it is unlikely that the room its in will be kept at such a high temperature (18C) overnight, more likely 13C will be a low temp. It is even possible that the rooms normal daytime ambient temperature will be around 17C as we attempt to save energy.
I liked the above model for price, capacity and energy rating (A+). As a final note I had also considered getting a 5 year warranty – do Samsung sell them or would it have to be independant/from the reseller?
So what to do? There’s this model RSA1WTMH as a possibility, but I don’t like the ‘water dispenser’ nor the dark colour, but it is climate class SN (I think).
Thanks for any help advice that’s given. 🙂

Hi
DON’T even think about the SAMSUNG range. every model so far has serious inherent defects that samsung can’t wont cure. The RSG5 range shut down on their own and wont restart..they haven’t found the cure yet since the launch of the model a few years ago.
Samsung have sense..they wont insure their products, they would make a massive loss.
Buy 2 separate units and put them side by side

I don’t have room for two seperate units.
What about LG GWB207FVQA – I had considered it, but the freezer capacity is not that much bigger (150lt-ish) than the old Beko. Or Beko side-by-sides?
