Clonking dishwasher

Our old Bosch dishwasher “kicks back” through the water supply when the valve closes. I am concerned that one day it will encourage a leak somewhere in the house. We are looking at replacing the machine, are there any dishwashers on the market that avoid this problem?

Not really – fill valves are either electrically open or mechanically shut. The shut very abruptly. Try turniong the pressure down a bit at the supply tap. Machine will fill a little more slowly, but there will be less “weight of water” slamming the valve shut.
