    Hi,

Does anyone have any advice on how to retreive a coin from my machine? I am worried about using it in case it causes major damage but is there a chance it might come out on it’s own in the next wash? Or is there any way I can get to it? (I have a mechanic boyf who could oblige). Or do I have to call in an engineer?

    Thanks in advance!

hmm, tricky one that… id remove it if at all possible, the brittle plastic they use in the outer tub obliterates with no effort

if its got a welded tub, its more difficult, u could try taking the heater out (with plug out) and see if its there … not an easy task, and a pig to put back in, its best to change the heater most often

if its got a tub thats screwed together, it is possible to pull the lifter out from the drum by pulling it forward and it will come out, u may need to replace it, sometimes they break

that will allow you to look in the drum for the coin

either way, the coin needs to come out

Wiil the coin come out on its own?
    No,
it may fall into the sump hose which is a large rubber pipe clamped to the bottom of the outer plastic tub. Once in there it will be out of harms way. When I service these machines its not unusual to find a handful of coins, clips, bra wires, sweet wrappers etc. and the machine has been working ok.

    Should you call an engineer.
Probably, ask around first, family, friends for a recomendation. I charge £35 for this kind of job as long as no parts are required, so rates vary but that s a ballpark figure for you.

If your boyfriend touches the machine make sure the machine is disconnected from the electricity, Plug Out!
