ParticipantMy clothes come out very cold after a wash. How can I check if the water is reaching the desired temperature. Furthermore my fabric conditioner doesn’t seem to be draining into the machine what should I do? Thank you

KeymasterThe final rinses are done in cold water that’s why. Obviously the colder the water the colder the clothes, but that is correct. Heat is only applied during the actual was process itself.
The conditioner is another issue, what machine is it?

…..besides, if the machine wasn’t performing as it should, it would not complete the cycle at all. And especially at this time of year your clothes should indeed feel quite cool as you drag them out of the tub.
As for the fabric conditioner, take the drawer out and clean it thoroughly, also scrub inside the cavity especially the spray nozzles above the drawer 😉

KeymasterI noticed that my washing was coming out very cold – much colder than I had noticed before. In my case the thermostat has stopped working –
I know this because I set the machine to do a hot wash (50 or 60 degrees), and watched it start. It is a cold-fill machine, and when the water had gone in, the machine immediately started washing rather than sitting there for a while heating the water to temperature before starting the washing process. Also putting my hand against the glass door during the wash cycle on this hot wash the door felt very cold to the touch – I would expect some warmth during a hot wash.February 22, 2005 at 4:38 pm #126716Martin

kt,
Your case may be slightly different and assuming it is a WB120 as well, can I ask you to set the temperature knob to 70 degress and set it on a wash cycle with no clothes in (just 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} detergent though to use this opportunity to give it a ‘service wash’).
Check its progress during the first 30 minutes and you should notice the door glass getting warm. 🙂 If not then the heater is at fault 🙁

I’ll try the service wash but I can feel the door as its covered in plastic. Is the heater breaking down a common problem?

Nah! …after a few years good service then the limescale gets it, so 4 – 5 years is reasonable for most elements I reckon. Unless of course the water level sensor fails, then that’s a different story 😯
