Cold water tap (dishwasher)

Hello.

Tomorrow I will be fitting a dishwasher. I have also recently fitted a washing machine. In regards to the washing machine, after opening the cold water tap to drain, water eventually stopped flowing and I attached it to the washing machine. When I have checked the cold water pipe that will be used for the dishwasher, water doesn’t cease coming out like it did with the washing machine.

This is probably a silly but is this normal? Or is there something wrong with the on/off valve on the pipe? I just don’t want to risk flooding the place when I get the dishwasher tomorrow?

its a tap so it should turn off but as long as the dishwasher is connected and the valve inside the dishwasher is not faulty you will not notice the problem

it would be prudent to get it fixed in case you need to isolate it but its not urgent next time you get a plumber in would be ok
