Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, but anyways I was wondering ,what are Comet like to work for, im thinking off leaving college and applying for a sales advisor position at my local Doncaster store. helo_75 will know.
thankstheyre ok i suppose.. pays average, just targets and performance count for a lot, there are worse jobs

Can’t comment on Comet specifically but like all large retailers there are pro’s and cons…having worked for another large retailer many many moons ago i can tell you that you will have to work hard and achieve targets, there may be some unsociable hours to work and you will never be a millionaire…against that you will will have a reasonable pay for the work, fringe benefits such as sick pay, holiday entitlements, pension options etc and the chance of a career path to a well paid job but above all, if you can excel as a salesperson there then you will have a skill that any company would welcome 😉

What are you studying in college and which college or Uni are you at, why do you want to give it up ?

I’d like to do some form of CAD design , like product design or architecture, and I’m very nimble with a computer so I have no trouble there, I’m currently at Selby college studying Graphic design, but it doesn’t seem to have any link with what I want to do, I mean all we do, is draw, animation, painting and stuff on Photoshop and of course designing packaging and posters, all of which I can do already, so what I’m thinking of doing is finding a job to get some cash and see what other university or college I can go to. Hope I haven’t bored anyone…..

Its only over Christmas, but If i can prove myself, I’d like them to take me on a bit more permanent.

adam, my advise would be to finish your course, if you get a degree at the end it will always be on your cv. take the job over christmas, which may be the busiest time of the year..see if you like it and comet like you.
as comet say they are a multi task firm it may be that your degree will help in another part of the organisation.

Thanks for that, that I will do, but I’m unsure when the actual Christmas period starts, i thought it would be in November when people are clever enough like everybody else to start shopping, but id still be in term. Maybes i have to talk nice to my teacher perhaps if that is the case….

Just an update on the whole situation, after many attempts, all have failed, after I take the assessment thing, I recieve an email the next day saying the application was unsuccessful. Do you have to be 18 to apply?
For goodness sake, can’t anyone utillise my talents at all?
And If i knew how to upload a picture you’d know what I mean.maybe you have the power of thought… they dont like people who can think for themselves
