ParticipantWent to an old customer of mine today to repair her oven, And i asked her why a brand new Siemens dishwasher was in the middle of the kitchen. She explained that her husband had done a lot of reserch before buying and came up with the same machine which I would have recomended if they had asked. He ran in to a problem when he was plumbing it in as the Aquastop would not fit on to his cold supply due to lack of space, Rather than call me he called Comet and arranged for a repalcement machine with a normal inlet hose to be delivered AND GUESS WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO REPLACE IT WITH: AN INDISIT 8O.
When I explained to her she is going to replace the best D/W on the market with the 2nd worse, And that I could have plumbed the Siemens in with a 20p hose connector she nearly cried.Goose

I don’t see how that’s Comet’s fault.
BTW: If Indesit is the second worst, what’s the worst?

Because the Comet delivery gorillas couldn’t do the job properly for the customer which would have saved a load of hassle for the customer and Comet. 😉

Seems like the customers own fault to me 😕 , he was obviously trying to save himself a few quid by plumbing it in himself and ran into some “difficulties” :rolls:.

If Comet can’t install an appliance, they’ll take the appliance back with them, and arrange a solution for the customer.
I read it as though they’d not paid for installation, in which case Comet had no obligation to refund/exchange the appliance.

Kwatt is correct THE worst are produced in China and Indist are very close 2nd. My point was how could Comet recommend an Indisit as a replacement when there must be loads of of much better models supplied without an Aquastop. In fact don’t most Bosch models come with a standard fill hose? Its easy for us as we know who makes what, But the punters don’t They have to rely on sales people who know squat and and don’t give a toss about what the customer wants and needs.

Did Comet actually advise swapping to an Indesit or did they simply agree to your customers request for this particular dishwasher.
Your customer sounds like he knows what he wanted and thought he could even plumb it in without your services , obviously mistaken :rolls:.Bryan

I can’t see Comet recommending an Indesit, we know of the issues widely instore, and at the end of the day, Comet wouldn’t make as much money on an Indesit as a Bosch, for example.
I think it’s more likely the customer looked at the cheapest and saw it suitable!

Don’t brand everyone with that, i’m a customer associate (‘sales people’) at Comet.
To be honest, Comet have *really* sorted themselves out this last 12 months, everyone in store now has an hour a week dedicated to product training, are no longer on commission and actually care about their customers.

macmini, Its possible the customers second choice was made on cost but but as he paid, I would think £350-400 for the Siemens which came with a full 5 year guarantee some one at Comet should have advised him that the Indisit was not the best choice of replacement. That was my point!

Yes, definitely, and i’m sure they will have done. At the end of the day, no one knows what happened.
Anyway, stop moaning, it’ll keep you busy. 😉

macmini We will have to agree to differ on this one as I could say a lot more about Comet and all the other sheds for that matter, but it won’t change anything.

Yeah
I know exactly what you mean, and i can only vouch for my particular store, but Comet really have gone out of their way to help the customers out, this past 12 months, since the new vision.
