    Somebody got theirs today.
I broke one of my rules today and went out to a call where the customer had already bought the part and fitted it. Baumatic multi function oven fault was no heat and he’d already changed the fan element saying he knew about electrics etc :rolls: .
On this occasion I decided to go to it (stung badly in the past when someone had me on a Hotpoint washer dryer 99 type for about an hour before letting slip they’d put a new timer in).
Gets in the kitchen and he’s already got it out on a box for me to work on. Back off and power is getting to the element ok. Check inside and temp test it. All ok. I’m a bit puzzled so I quiz them again. No heat when they tried it, showed her the setting for the fan oven and she says’ I never use that setting only this one (conventional upper and lower element).
You’ve already guessed haven’t you :rotfl: . No meter or anything he just assumed that the fan oven element was the problem and they’d never used it. Bought the new one direct from Baumatic as well.
Both upper and lower oven elements had gone. But what I found wierder was why buy an expensive oven to use the most basic setting 😯

    Some strange folk about :rolls:
Still…..made my day when it dawned what he’d done. A little knowledge……. 😉

    Re: Comeuppance!!!!!!!

Thats a good one. It amazes me that people pay over the top for a multi function oven and are yet usually unaware of all the features. time and time again they say they have been without a oven for a week when they have had a perfectly usuable convection oven just waiting to be switched on.

    Re: Comeuppance!!!!!!!

That’s amazing, the same happened to me a few weeks ago, lady of the house said fan oven not heating (three year old Neff) tho in this case nobody had attempted a repair.

So first check clock is not set to auto (how many times have we all had that type of story) anyway, clock is set OK so switch fan oven on and hey presto it works. Customer say’s thats not the one I use and proceedes to show me the setting for conventional oven and I explain the fan noise she is hearing is the cooling fan. The thing is she had the hand book out in case I needed it, no no no dear lady I think you should sit down and have a good read your self. With the call charge paid it was on to the next adventure.

Sounds a bit like an old dear I had many years ago, Hotpoint T/Dryer, one week old. Complaint of no drying. She said “I put it on for ten minutes and it didn’t dry, I must have put it ten times or more for another ten minutes and it still didn’t dry” 😯 :rolls: 😆
