ParticipantHi all, just move and defrosted a Blomberg CFF 289 which had been working with no problems at all…. but on restarting it both fridge and freezer are working fine but the compressor won’t switch itself off…. i have turned the thermostat down by hand and it clicks off the compressor but it won’t do it without me turning the stat…..
any advise please..December 17, 2008 at 12:28 am #271761Penguin45

Obvious thermostat failure. I can’t find any spares info on this one, so drop and email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk and they should be able to find it for you.

Thanks for that, do you think the compressor has suffered any damage that would make it not worth replaceing the stat….. it did get rather ” hot”
MAny ThanksDecember 18, 2008 at 7:50 am #271763fridgeman999

Dont wish to be rude, but it is a blomberg, could be a gas leak. 🙁

Why… are they known for gas leaks….. had been working fine … in fact the fidge part was probably the best i’ve had….. hiting the right temperture around 3 or 4 on the stat…
The latest update on it is that the stat won’t turn it off now at all, and i’m haveing to use a time switch so that i dont loose the food, although the temp is not as low as it should be….. also plenty of humming comeing from the pipes?December 18, 2008 at 10:50 pm #271765cockney steve

From my limited knowledge, I’d say it’s the ‘stat, as well.
still cools fine, so that means there’s gas and the compressor’s functioning OKthe fact you have to “modulate” it on a time-clock, means you have “spare” cooling capacity(another indicator that the gas hasn’t leaked.)
stat!- use the “spares ” link…..super rapid delivery and top-quality parts.
NO! I don’t work for them! satisfied user! 😆

Hi.
Sounds like a system related fault to me. Unlikely to be the thermostat as they usually just go open circuit which causes the compressor to die.
