ParticipantThis year has been the worst I’ve ever known. Can’t look into my top bins without getting my head wet. My carbon brush bags are dripping wet (thank god for plastic bags), and the roof looks like a rainforest waiting to happen. Any good VIZ style tips on beating the condensation…..and please no space heaters 😉

I have a dehumidifier I bought to keep my classic motorcycles dry in the garage but it’s hopeless in cold weather as it needs an ambient temperature of at least 10 degrees. My van is the same with condensation. I had frost on the dashboard one morning.

Maybe you could stick a VTD00P in the back and run it on a timeswitch for a short period without a load. It should draw in air from the van and dry it. ❓ 😆

Just googled condensation absorbers.

Used to use those when I had a touring caravan, they did work but you had to keep draining and refilling them.
Some thin sheets of polystyrene foam stuck to the roof would do the trick.
Don’t think they sell indoor polystyrene roof tiles now but it may still be available in thin sheets.

Why not try your local electrical retailer for some discarded polystyrene sheets, Beko refrigeration among others use thin sheets of the stuff.

It’s due to a lack of air circulation moist air gets trapped and condensation forms on any cold surface, do you have a sealed bulkhead behind the drivers seat? My van had the same problem only after the bulkhead was fitted.
The only cure is to cover the cold roof panel with insulation I used an old carpet off cut and glued it to the inside of the roof, you could fit a spinning roof vent like they fit on police dog vans, that would expel any moisture in the air as the van is driven.February 10, 2010 at 10:15 pm #311563admin

I’ll try the carpet Gazman :waving: , but the spinning police dogs will have to wait. 😉
