ParticipantHi all Model concerned is a 3 year old Hoover dx-h10a2tce Heat pump type.
On normal selection of a program, machine appears to function normal, the drum turns, all lights and programs selection is ok etc but we noticed that the clothes just aren’t drying. I mean at all. Minimal water returning to the door collector tank after hours of operating.
So I spent the day tearing this thing down, as it’s my first time near a dryer it took quiet a while.
The water pump has checked ok. The heat exchanger is spotless and dry. All wiring and connectors are in good shape. The machine doesn’t give any fault codes.
I found that the heat pump and capacitor are not getting any voltage. Traced the wires back to the control board and no voltage at the pins.
I am suspecting the board or just the relay for the heat pump but I don’t have the diagrams so can’t tell which one it is.
Could I be missing something like maybe a sensor has faulted and is stopping the board from sending voltage to the heat pump or do they normally just run continuous?
Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated!!March 12, 2021 at 9:50 am #475708electrofix
Moderatorif your testing the unit without washing you need to run a timed programme as some units wont start drying until damp clothes are detected

ParticipantHi Dave,
ok I’ll try that. ThanksMarch 12, 2021 at 11:02 pm #475710Tom Tucker
ParticipantWith something damp in the dryer there is 220v at the capacitor and condenser pump. After it running for 5 mins the pump case gets hot. Guess this means it’s working!?
I poured water into the collector hole and most of it came back up thru the door tank drain.
At this point the only thing I can see not operating is the electric fan on the front of the machine, ( I suppose this just runs to cool the pump above a certain temperature..?)
Any other ideas or paths to follow?
Many thanks in advanceMarch 13, 2021 at 10:03 am #475711electrofix
Moderatorthese units are almost impossible to fault find on
we know they take ages to dry compared with standard models
for them to work you need air flow and cold on the condensor. carefully check all filters to make sure air flow is okif it ends up being a refrigeration fault you might as well bin it but it may be covered by an extended parts warranty as long as hoover engineers get paid for the labour
