ParticipantAnybody else had a courtesy call from Connect wanting to know if they use other suppliers, i’ve not had one yet but know another couple of engineers who have, and would you believe they can match and beat the other companys on price if they give them a phone, i’m waiting on my phone call from them and i have my list ready for them, i only wish Qualtex and Masterprt etc coud get their websites working and stock as good as connects and we might see a bit of competion on price between them all,JJ

What is curious to me is this, over the last year our spares orders to Connect have reduced by a fair margin, mainly due to very keen pricing elsewhere, not once have our Connect Rep or anyone from Connect looked in or called to find out why we are not spending as much as we were. If I saw a downturn in my customer base I would be finding out why. Same happened with Wash-Vac / Partscentre until we stopped orders altogether and again no enquires ever came as to why we stopped ordering.

Yes… They called me… They wanted to know who I used for parts, would I order from Connect, do I do agency work “Repaircare”, and a few other questions. When I told them what thought of their prices, billing problems, repaircare pricing, etc. they hung up.

I am wondering if I have got Connect to come up with this one. 😉
I told them 3 months ago that i was getting better prices at Masterpart, Qualtex and Homespares and that Connect was the last place i would try. 😈
Got fed up having to register for access to the web site every other month.

Already in another topic in the Rumour Mill under DSG/RepairCare Rate Cuts pages 14 & 15.
I have had the phone calls and then hear the drop in the voice when I let them know I only buy parts for their service calls. Stock etc comes from elsewhere.
Until the rate change they were my preferred supplier outside of manufacturers. Once the rate dropped I opened an account with Qualtex.

ParticipantYes we too only order what we have to order from them.
It is really very simple a conversation that I managed to avoid when I got this call although I wish I had said it out loud but then they’d know who I was and sack me.
You spanked us up on labour rates.
You spank us up on part prices.
Then you want us to buy more from you as well.
Do the math connect!!!

i got a call from them promising me better prices, i waited a couple of days then placed a duplicate order from a couple of weeks ago and the prices were exactly the same.
i only use them if i cant get a part elsewhere but build the order up to avoid carriage charge.
never did any repaircare work.January 29, 2011 at 5:38 pm #342867johnnyj
ParticipantRe: Connect
I find the only stuff they seem to be keen with prices are fast moving parts anything else is marked up to the hilt, i priced a Servis module from them £86 plus vat i got it from Qualtex for £37 plus vat, thing is i managed to build up an order from Qualtex with that order i saved the postage and also saved about £80 on what connect were going to charge me, it can mean the differance of getting the job or another machine for the crusher, JJ

Very strange you guys being called by Connect and being asked if you use other suppliers.
For the last year Connect have rang through every week or two with a courtesy call. I am rarely at home when they call. So I miss them 🙂
A fortnight ago they caught me in and asked how things were going.
It was my chance to moan about their prices. I told them I had been using another suplier quite a lot, as they were cheaper. They asked who I used (Qualtex) I then gave an example of prices they charged for Bosch genuine parts, and Qualtex price.Anyway to cut it short, the following day they are matching Qualtex prices.
I have not heard from Connect on the phone since. 🙁 🙁 !!!!!

I place two orders a week with Connect so you can imagine the sort of turnover I’m talking about . Just looked up a part for a Bosch built under oven ( door glass ) and found it £27 pounds cheaper from Qualtex ! I’ve not seen a rep for ages , but he’s due in about ten days and he can look forward to a “VERY BENT EAR ” !!!!! 😡

It does pay to shop around, there’s no doubt about that. I looked up price for an old style three tag Zan lock (FLS1183W) today. It was somewhere around £27 at big C but about £5/£6 at Mpt. and all over e-bay for about a tenner delivered. I suppose Connect is just so big they haven’t got time to worry about some of their prices being wildly out of synch. But it does mean you can come a real cropper if you don’t do your homework.
