ParticipantConnect have a policy for their modules that once you have purchased them they are non returnable. They say it is the manufacturer’s policy as well. I can fully understand and appreciate that policy as the expertise and care taken during fitting; coupled with correct diagnosis is out of their control. Therefore they cannot guarantee the PCB or take it back if not required.
So bearing that in mind, how is it possible that I receive both an LG module last month and today a Bosch module that have both been fitted. Both boxes were taped shut; both had the internal plastic bags undone and both had tag marks. 👿 And three 100 bit Indesit dishwasher PCB’s last year; all in cobbled together boxes with one even having highlighter pen marks on the coding sheet. All three boards were already initialized when fitted; therefore definitely used and returned. Thank goodness they worked!
With the cost of these boards, your heart is always in your mouth anyway when you switch the machines on, but if the board is, in essence, second hand, it makes for an unacceptable situation as neither Connect nor the manufacturer could possibly guarantee it was new or working in the first place. Yet they still uphold their policy. How are these boards getting back to Connect and being reissued? If their policy is not to accept PCB returns then how is this happening? Is it perhaps their “4OurHouse” public internet outlets getting different treatment to the trade with returns accepted, or do they just not check for tagging marks? In either case, it would appear that they cannot guarantee the part is new or even works before they send it out, as its history is unknown. If it doesn’t work, the poor engineer is stuck with it on the assumption that HE damaged it.
Or does it just smack of double standards between trade and public internet retailing?
Thoughts please…….
Steve.

ParticipantRe: Connect PCB policy.
Connect nor anyone else can interfere with the publics statutory rights thus a member of the public is afforded the ability to return the goods if they so choose (provided they follow the law regarding DSR).
B2B transactions are not covered by the same law and Connect effectively make up their own rules regarding returns.
A friend of mine whom is a Repaircare agent tells me he is able to return PCBs but other trade friends tell me they carnt.
I think your spend has something to do with it too. Those that spend a lot also seem to have the no returns policy waived whilst others that spend a little have it enforced.
We stopped using Connect some time ago, mainly because of pricing issues but this was a factor too.
I could usually by cheaper going direct to the manufacturer and get better support and a returns policy as an individual than as trade.
Sadly it’s the way of Connect

ParticipantRe: Connect PCB policy.
I have returned unused pcbs to Connect in the past without difficulty. Most suppliers have sent me the occasional previously fitted pcb in the past, regardless of their returns policy, but I can’t remember any in recent years proving faulty.
The most worrying case for me was a Bosch tumble dryer module (retail price £242) I recently bought directly from BSH. The box seal was broken and it contained a 7 year old used and presumably faulty module. BSH were at a loss to explain this, but arranged refund without quibble.
