I too live in Northern Ireland and the service by DHL sucks. Connect send the order out same day and it arrives within 24 hours to the DHL depot in Omagh, that’s where it stays for 2 to 6 days until i start complaining. Neither Connect nor DHL will answer an email which really pisses me off.
I reckon Connect don’t answer the emails because they want us to use their 0870 numbers like most companies today, i can imagine that they generate thousands of pounds in a year out of their (lets rip the customer off) 0870 number, whatever happened to the days when Helen would ring and say, “hi Rick…anything you need”…ahhhhhhh distant memories….Rick

If you don’t like using the 0870 numbers type in “Connect distribution services” in the search box on this site and it will give you the 0121 numbers instead.

Connect: 01217666222. One number I remember off the top off my head. And believe me I don’t remember much these days 😕

Thanks guys. I DO have a dislike of 0870 numbers period, my copy of Connect retailers catalogue arrived today, inside it says they handle 1.4 million calls a year. Companies cream off approx 4 pence per minute from 0870 numbers, talk about a licence to print money, it’s just another rip off of Joe Public…Rick

I’m now in two minds about Connect.
The other day I l had literally just got off the phone to Europart (Maddocks) setting my account and I get a call from a Connect Sales person trying to persuade me to open a Connect account. (Are they connected or was it a fluke???)
I’ve completed the application and it’s waiting to be fax’d back to them but are Connect ok to deal with? Salesman (which normally puts me off straight away) was a bit pushy and cold called me. Also I only seem to see people having prolbems with Connect…. not seen too many comments about other supplies.
Masterpart have been absolutely great to deal with. I had a problem with parts delivered to the wrong address by courier. The problem was eventually solved but MP returned every one of my calls and e-mails in good time and also gave me their Geographic number to call them back on!!!
Should I just bin the Connect application??

Hi Steve,
Connect are a huge company and like most companies people only write something when they are displeased. Connect probably have loads of satisfied customers and I am one of them.
I have dealt with them since 1993 and have had no problems that they haven`t sorted. Their stockholding is huge, I get next day delivery 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time (the other 1{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} is usually DHL`s fault) and pricewise no-one matches them( for me that is).
Open the account and see for yourself, you have nothing to lose as you can stop using them if you`re dissatisfied.

Connect have a vast stock holding. They give away the fast moving items for pennies. They charge over retail prices for less popular stuff. They have a sliding scale of price bands depending on your spend. Basically, you have to double-check the price of every single item which you buy from them. This is what really gets peoples goat.
Personally, I just don’t have time to bother with them.

I can’t remember the last time I bought anything from CDSL? :rolls:
The only trouble I have from them is that every other Wednesday they ring me on my mobile to see “If there’s anything they can do for me?”
Yesterday when I crawled out from behind a customers cobweb, dust and shoosh infected kitchen cupboard trying to wrestle with a jammed stopcock, my phone rings. I placed the phone high up on the customers fridge freezer in order to retain a signal. I grab the phone and dash outside in the pouring rain (in order to retain a signal that is)….only to find it’s the guy at Connect asking after my health??????????????
A few weeks back, in a very very similar situation, I told the guy at the time in no uncertain terms to stick his phone headset where it’s unlikely to be affected by the suns rays….but they don’t give up for gods sake!!!! 👿

Maybe they are feeling the pinch of the credit crunch? I have dealt with Connect for almost 12 years and have never,(despite there next day delivery promise.)ever had a next day delivery from them. Usually 2-3 days minimum. They may well blame their Couriers, but surely if the couriers are not providing the service, Connect should take their bussiness elsewhere. I have no problems with Masterpart. Order before 3 o’clock delivered next day no problem. Why can’t Connect do the same?

We don`t have any delivery issues at all, like everyone else we place our order before 3pm and it arrives next day by DHL. Perhaps some depots are better than others :rolls:
The biggest problems we are having is in the picking, some of it beggers belief it really does.

I just had one of those courtesy calls – found it on my call minder when got in, and I decided to ring back to chase up an outstanding CMP.
So I rang the 0121 no. on my display -the one my rep had apparently rung me on. Was answered by young lady in “reception” who said she was sorry but unable to help me other than to give me the number for customer services… 0870…. I asked her if she could give me an 0121 number for c/s to which she again apologised that that was not possible.
I think.. well never mind what I think.
