Hi all, I am trying to fix the cooker hood fan not working. It is a 3 speed motor with pcb for the indicator lamp in the switch. Have checked power and switch all ok. Motor windings look ok visually, suspect it may be the capacitor. Unfortunately the value of the capacitor is almost unreadable (see photos). The motor has a capacitance value on it, does this indicate the value of the capacitor required? Any advice would be much appreciated. Regards Jim

    What hood is it for?

2uF does sound about right for a cooker hood motor

If the cap has gone the motor will try to turn when energised and may run if given a push

if there is no power going to the motor you need to look elsewhere

It could be but some of those with the wiring on it go up to 6.3uF hence asking as if I can look it up on the model I will. 😉

Thanks for the replies. There is no make or model anywhere on the unit, it has a label saying imported by CNA trading appliances Ltd, who are no longer trading.

Deep joy, nobody has any info on them either but Lamona had hoods made by the same Chinese makers and they generally all used this one:
