ParticipantHi first post,
I have got a slime line cookworks dishwasher but no instruction booklet.
I have googled for hours but can find no website, are these machines made by someone else?
any ideas where to look?
Many thanks.

The only Cookworks slimline I can find is the WQP8-9239, currently being sold by Argos. It looks suspiciously like one of the Chines Haier range of machines, so it is indeed a badge job. Who the UK distributor is I have no idea, I’m afraid.

I wonder what the model number is?
Argos import these I believe from Italy? I think they are Indesit/Ariston machines rebadged?

Thanks, had a feeling it was maybe an indersit which turns out to be just as difficult to find a manual for!
I did mean slimline and not slilmeline by the way!

I have a slimline Cookworks dishwasher I bought from Argos less than a year ago. It is model number WQP8-9239 which may not be much use in identifying yours since on mine this model number is not displayed anywhere on the front, sides or inside. I scanned the manual in PDF form and could email you it if you think it might be useful.
A problem I encountered some months ago was this: All indication leds lit and an extended beebing sound while the drain pump continually ran. The machine refused to reset or move to the next wash stage even after switching off and on. On checking inside the dishwasher the sump was properly drained (raising the question of why the drain pump was running continually) although the strainer was particularly blocked.
Cut a long story short; cleaned the strainer, happened to tilt the machine for investigation and water came out somewhere. Plugged the machine in and would you believe it works again! YIPPEE, lots of dirty washing straight back in! I’m guessing some dirt got past the strainer and blocked a channel or something.
It has happened a couple of time since, I don’t even bother disconnecting it now; just slide it out of place, tilt it back 45degrees ish, mop up the water, push it back in place, switch it on and away we go. It was the cheapest dishwasher I could get so I guess you get what you pay for, I find it less hassle to fix it myself than go the bother of refund and replacement.
When I looked here some months ago there were no answers to this problem, I hope I save others some time, money and effort!

KeymasterI hate to say this, but it looks awfully like a Haier bucket of ****.
Draining the base is okay, but there’s other problems with these things, many, many problems I’m afraid and, when they fill up enough in the base, they blow up the motor and often the PCB with it.
Just a bundle of unbridled joys they are.
Check that the door fits square, they often don’t. Don’t use Finish tabs of any sort as they cause overfoaming on rinse and whatever you do, DON’T open the door after the program has started!

It’s under guarantee, so best get their repair agent to at least check it out free of charge before its too late and all the ‘Works’ inside are ‘Cooked’ 😉

Switched it on, and it ran for 20-30 seconds gave a big blue flash and stopped. Red power LED remains lit but get no action whatever I do with it now.
I think the end is nigh after 18 months!
Anyone recommend a good brand of slimline dishwasher?
Thanks

Argos’s own brand of goods (Cookworks, Challenge and Challenge Xtreme) are made for the parent company Home Retail Group. Usually Hong Ping Crap I am afraid.

Thats interesting as we thought that when we bought our SMEG DWF66 but it hasn’t proved that reliable TBH.
4 breakdowns in 4 years, the first was 1 month outside the 2 year warranty period which in all fairness SMEG did honour (we paid for the parts) but then again we paid around £480 for it.
I doubt we’d buy a SMEG DW again given our experience, others may vary.
It does wash well but it breaks down every year (normally repairable), we’re thinking of a Miele DW now Sidney Smeg is on his way out 🙁
All above just IMHO.

Not being the type to chuck stuff without trying a fix, took the Cookworks WQP8-9239 apart and googled some parts that potentially required replacing. I found alot of parts that were the same as a Carlton CF2W, not the bits I needed though. A quick look around on the web reveals that alot of others are having similar problems.
Being quite reliant on the machine I decided to take the plunge for a better one and ordered a SMEG DF410SF. It’s got a free 5 year guarantee and I got it for £360 which looks a good deal. If I get 5 years out of it that’s better value than the Cookworks (and hopefully less hassle).
