ParticipantHi all,
I have a Schreiber 6325 larder fridge(integrated)this has been fitted for 3 years and now i believe it has a cooling problem. On a daily basis i am throwing out milk and when you go for a tin of beer it just does not feel as cool as other fridges you go into.Any help on the subject would be appreciated. Thanks againJanuary 14, 2006 at 10:49 pm #160941Dave_Conway

Check to see (listen) if the motor is running constantly please, that will help us 🙂
If it is you may well have a system problem, it may well be worth asking an engineer to have a look at it should that be the case, check the repairs@ link below.

I’ve removed the ventilation panel from the front of the fridge and i can see a motor with fan there,is this the motor you are talking about? Also, this might a stupid question but what should the internal temperature of the fridge be if i set the unit to 5,its coolest setting? Thanks again

Set at 5 it would almost freeze the contents normally.
The motor I refered to was the main “compressor” at the back which you won’t be able to see without removing the unit from it’s housing but you should be able to hear it 😀

Ok thanks for that.I have now pulled the fridge out and looking at the compressor,I assume this should switch its self on and off.Have you any idea how long the motor will run for before clicking back off, just so i know if i do have a problem.

The motor appears to be switching on and off correctly,The fan at front must work in conjunction with the main motor at the back,ie they both come on at the same time.Have you any ideas of what could be wrong if the compressor is working correctly?

KeymasterCompressors can run but not actually pump the gas around the circuit. They can also, like any electrical pump run weak and not pump correctly which can give some nice weird symptoms.
In essence it’s just a pump suspended on springs.

How will i know if the compressor is actually doing anything,I turned the stat on the fridge down to 1 last night but the temp still remained at 8 degrees, whether it is at 1 or 5 it makes no bearing on the temp.

It’s unusual but it may be the thermostat in that case which switches the fan and compressor on and off.
Check if the compressor is running hot (carefully as they can get very hot !)

I have checked the compressor and the outside does feel hot,its not hot enough where it would burn my hand though. Is it possable for me to change the thermostat myself and what sort of money is envolved with buying one?

The thermostat is £18.03 inc VAT and carriage if you want to give it a try.
Remember to power off when replacing :zap:
