KeymasterIt was almost unanimously agreed that CORGI training costs too much to be commercially viable for service work.
Whilst we have already tackled CORGI on this subject we will continue to do so in an attempt to make it more of a viable proposition in the long term. Richard Dalley acknowledged and agreed with much of this and both Richard and Dave Parker stated that in some cases they had to use people outwith the repair industry to get coverage on gas appliances.
It was also noted that gas qualified repairers are in decline.

Well after spending this week renewing my corgi qualifications (thank god its over) 😕 No to be serious the cost yes was expensive £775 inc vat 2 days training 2 days CCN1 & 1 day cookers & central heating & gas fires but in my mind it was worth while. 😥
I would seriously state that you will need to have the 2 days training as there are several changes that have been brought in. 🙄
As its said ” if you can’t get the rules to work ” change the rules and so they have. 😈
i found it a lot easier doing all the modules at one time as the examiners realise that you have just completed halve the module previously.

Quote “Must be carried out by a Corgi registered Engineer
A certificate must be renewed every year i.e. appliances re checked at least once a year”Been very quite on your Corgi threads
How’s Corgi going as I read it came in on 1 April
In Oz they recommend Electrical Appliance testing in the house every 2 years
In New Zealand your allowed a LPG bottle inside the house but not here in OZ
It will soon be to the stage where you have to have everything Certified, Qualified, Sterilized etc etc etc
I think it was KWATT who said you have more chance of winning the lottery than being killed by dodgy appliances

Now that depends on the customer who installs it!! :zap:
I have seen 3 installs this week that I have had to reinstall do to dodgy joints.
And at some amazement one bloke who installed a cooker even gave me his name and address and number :eeek:
Needless to say he has been reported for it.

You mean the notification of all installations 😀
I’ve done four so far using the web service, and I have to say it’s an absolute doddle.
I’ll be contacting a couple of the customers in a week or two to see how long it takes for the Certificate to arrive, I’d also like to see one to see exactly what they get 😉

Have done 2 myself, do we get any notification as the customer apparently gets a certificate for future reference. What a money spinner for corgi though.Greg

Nope, the installer gets nowt as far as I know, the customer gets a certificate that will be a requirement to selling a house come 2007, it goes hand in hand with Part P.
To be honest, £2.50 to administer and post the certificate is actually quite reasonable I suppose, it’s just the extra admin time for us they didn’t account for which the consumer ultimately ends up paying for anyway 😕

Totally useless it is! 🙂
I go on to do a new-build site only to find that “If you do not have the full postcode you will be unable to continue with the Notification”.
Which is fine, except that the Post Office haven’t assigned postcodes to the site yet!
Another well thought out plan.

And will you have the full postcodes within the 10 day limit, and if not what then ???
