Participantinterestingly, this has been brought up before
someone in the public forum is asking for advice on a double oven gas cooker, with an ffd fitted, as it needs to go in a flat, and needs to have an ffd fitted to the cooker so a corgi fitter can intall it
although unspecific, there was a corgi update a few months back, and from what i understood, it was only actual hobs that needed to have an ffd fitted – as we know, all ovens have some sort of supervision device fitted, hobs dont always
if this is the case, and, as the poster suggests, that brings along problems with freestanding cookers…. since most of them do not have any kind of supervision device on the burners, does this now mean they can no longer have a freestanding gas cooker in a flat anymore, since the hob burners dont have a supervision device?
furthermore, theres few gas grills that have supervision devices too
im sure at some stage manufacturers will incorporate them , as regs become more and more strict, but for now, customers, are, unless they get built in stuff, unable to have a freestanding gas cooker?
or did i read the memo wrong?

Hi
I must admit that the number of cookers which are suitable are few, but the numbers are increasing all the time.
The only info I had I posted in the rumour mill back in January in the thread Currys will no longer deliver to flats I had some info from Cannon which I posted on page 2. As you say ovens have some form of device already, however the hobs now have to be fitted with them as well. This applies to built in appliances as well.

ParticipantIf it was manufactured before the date that the new rules came in then it can still be fitted as per gas regs.

Hi
All free standing cookers do have FFD’s fitted of one sort or another.either be that a Thermocouple or a Valve FFD they both do the same job..shuts the gas off if the flame goes out.
The new regs are aimed at the burners of the cookers or the hobs which will all need to have thermocouples fitted to be allowed to be installed.

wsts is spot on there and the Corgi regs link he added spell it out clearly enough. 😉
All gas cooking appliances (hobs, ovens, grills whatever) manufactured before 1st Jan 2008 can still be fitted within these dwellings. And after 1st Jan 2008 there’s a bit of a grey mist descending on the regs as to when each manufacturer will be making fully compliant appliances? 😕
Meanwhile Corgi will be publishing lists of appliances that fully comply on their website in the fullness of time no doubt?
