ModeratorHordes of people visiting local parks and beauty spots, traffic jams on the road to Snowdonia, are there any sane people left in this country or do most of the under 50’s just not give a toss anymore?

KeymasterI can assure you Jim, it’s not just people under 50!
Older relatives.. “It’s a piece of nonsense” as they have many family members over for Mother’s Day dinner.
Politely declined to go. Tried to nicely inform that they are complete muppets for doing that.

ParticipantHi all
have not been on this forum for months, but thought I’d just check on your messages about these worrying times.
I think the risk to us all is getting higher by the day. I am fairly quiet at present so am seriously considering suspending business in the next few days.
Even as I write this , I am still unsure what is the right thing to do .

KeymasterYes, people just don’t seem to get it yet it’ll be everyone else’s fault when loved ones take ill or die.
In other news, AMDEA is trying to get appliance repairers onto the key workers list, will update as I get info.
Italy, industrial lockdown with many closed or near as closed so expect delays on parts from or that move through Italy. Ilve, for example, is completely closed down, no product, no parts, no admin.
I suspect others will follow.
Products from Italy, forget it for a while is what I’m being told.
Anything that moves through Italy etc, same.
Other countries as they close or restrict border crossings will also mean difficulty with both new products and parts.
Turkey, as I’d not seen anything and decided to look, is also affected and are behind the EU but it’s started there also so expect Beko, Vestel etc to also slow soon enough.
🙁

ParticipantHaving just heard the latest from No 10… Do I go out tomorrow to fix an elderly lady’s cooker?
Are we concidered ‘essential workers’?
Are there any government guidelines about how we stand?March 23, 2020 at 9:54 pm #466843kwatt
KeymasterAs above Bob, unclear as yet but we are not alone.
Heating guys, plumbers and other essential services are also unclear. My own take is that many of these services are utterly essential and all the more so if people are effectively under house arrest.
So my take on it is, carry on should you wish to and explain if stopped why you are out, it’s all you can do till things are clarified.

ParticipantNot sure about tomorrow. Are we likely to get a fine for being out? No one seems to know what the deal is.
Also, just had a job for an elderly care home who pay months in arrears (they already owe me alomst £500 from befor xmas). Feel like i want to get paid as waiting over 100 days doesnt seem like a good idea for my business at the moment. Also morally torn. Holding a care home to ransom for the bill seems morally challanging, doesnt it?
