So got a call today from a little old lady who had been recommended to me by a neighbour.

Her Hotpoint washing machine was flashing F05 so was just a simple blockage.

I quickly removed the hair clip, tested it was draining and charged her 50 pounds.

She couldn’t believe how cheap I was, she then told me that last week someone had come out opened the washing machine door and told her to get a new machine. For that he charged her 80 pounds on the card!.

Unbelievable there’s still cowboys out there doing this kind of thing!

should be reported to trading standards and since it was on a card are they not liable after all its tantamount to fraud

    Hi Dave,

Yes your right it should be reported to trading standards but the cowboy knows that at about 90 years old she’s she hasn’t got the energy or wits about her any more to follow it up.
Doesn’t leave a nice taste in the mouth though taking advantage of vulnerable people

The issue is that she called out a plumber who probably charges £80 as standard to walk in the door whatever the job. (Different world to ours) Who knows he may have said who wouldn’t fix it but just rescue the washing from it – I’m not saying by any stretch that it’s fair but I’m sure that’s how he would talk his way around it.

By the way Ive met lots of 90 year olds who wouldn’t stand for that s#i€.
