    Hi

I have a NEFF induction hob, NEFF T42D20X0, which has cracked across the width. Simple question, can it be repaired with a replacement glass, and if so what sort of cost am I looking at roughly?

    Thanks.

    Hi

    The glass can be replaced.

I would suggest that you contact Neff direct or search here for your local engineer for a quote on replacement. ( you will need full model number as there are 3 versions of the T42D20X0)

Cracked NEFF Hob – repair or replace?

    Hi

Normal guide for cost is in excess of £200 for the glass only. The normal cause of a crack from one side to the other if no impact has happened is that the hole has been cut too small which over a period of time causes the ceramic to stress thus cracking.

Re: Cracked NEFF Hob – repair or replace?

Thanks guys. The crack seems to have come from a chip to the edge of the hob, we’ve no idea what caused that but it was presumably an impact of some sort and caused a fingernail sized removal of material with a little cracking, so it seems likely the crack just followed from there. It’s on a very flat marble top and the template was carefully used by professionals to cut the hole so we think that’s OK. The only thing we never quite got round to was sealing the hob in with silicon, is that likely to have caused problems? I can imagine it would have been more likely to rock up on an impact and possibly flex a little.

The best lessons are always expensive I guess 😉
