The machine finished the program and I returnd to it to find it making a crackling noise – as if a fly was being fried on one of those blue lamps – but constant. Turning the mains off stopped it. It makes the noise as soon as the door is shut without having pressed the “power on” button.
Any ideas and a suggestion as to cost would be appreciated as a new machine might be an alternative.Re: Crackling noise from Hotpoint Ultima DWF70
The only way to find out is to visually examine all of the under base components and wiring and do the same for the door.
With the plug removed of course.
Does the noise sound to be underneath or in the door area?
If you find evidence of water in the base then that could have got in somewhere it shouldn’t have. To many possibilties to guess at really.

It sounded like it was underneath.
Decided to get a new machine as we were left it when we moved into the house so did not know it’s history, and the plastic front panel beneath the door was fixed into alternative holes, suggesting it may have been removed before………….
