ParticipantHow do you work this logic out i work for Hotpoint?, i think ? i do anyway an egineer phoned me today to ask me about a call he had on today, i ordered parts for a week ago, as it was not my area for some reason they got ordered for me and not for him but call got booked for him, phoned me and asks what i ordered i told him i’ve got them but they are in my lockup about 18 miles away, but as i have had an out call i’ll phone supervisor to get that blocked and run back up parts, arrange to meet other engineer with parts to get machine repaired for cust and then travel back to my area would have taken me an hour to do so, so the bold supervisor’s no just get it rebooked and take another call result another pissed of customer as well as engineers slot blooming crazy, i used to go the extra wee bit for cust’s and company but if i can put one over them i and everybody does likewise, its a sad that so many thats put in loyal service the company feel the same.

Flexibility….where would you be with it, where would you be without Merloni, I used to work for Creda, great job before Hotpoint moved in, now its happening to Hotpoint…lifes tough I suppose.
It’s a shame it’s the engineers who take the flack for the crap management that supports them!

Another sad tale of Merloni customer service going the wall due to bean pushers in control with about as much logicality among them as a field full of cabbages

My engineer went to an intergrated, 15 year old, slimline, Hotpoint (Bosch) D/W this morning.
Herloni has been out to it the day before. π The engineer had tryed to pull out the machine, without sucess. According to the customer, he huffed + puffed for half an hour, before making 5 or so excuses to why he couldn’t fix it, then unsucessfully tryed to chargeher the Β£89 call-out charge, then left. π π
My engineer, removed the front panel, and repaired the broken wiring in the door. 20 minutes of a job! 8)

We have to be careful not to tar everyone with the same brush G.B.
There are some crackin’ manufacturers engineers out there, just the same as there’s still one or two on our side of the fence, that we could all do without. πDel

It seems that things havenβt changed much over the years. I used to work for Hotpoint several years ago. The bunch of guys that worked with was a great team and would work with commitment primarily for the customer not just the company. Unfortunately this commitment was not appreciated by the management, when we pointed out that the customer came first we were told that our attitude was wrong! This was local management, what a pratt. We had a team of 16 engineers in that area, with an average of 16 years working for Hotpoint, over half left within two years.
I decided to take my services where they were appreciated and started up on my own, and took an awful lot of customers with me.

Likewise I left the then stable Hotpoint Creda to go it alone, after ten years and feeling the grass was greener, and finding myself without premises I was convinced that the new Indesit Co were paying fantastic with overtime galore and without a care in the world.
Last year I took the plunge (although I hadnt closed the business totally) and went to Indesit.
As a new starter you were really made to feel that you were a very insignificant part of the chain, The supervisor held all the cards and he was the boss..
Having left training school ( for the second time in 16 years ) I found the overtime was now not available, the van stock totally irrational and they were not in a position to issue tools or megger. Everything was done on a shoe string
The transormation in that Company hit me like a bolt of lightening..But none for the better.
I believe they are still struggling to recruit and retain engineers, and I guess the blame without cause is put on the training school who must really feel it, having scores of new starters and very few staying more than 3 months max.
On leaving a interview is taken, but this provides no usefull information to the Co as the people interviewing cause many of the problems and would not like to see anything in a poor light especially themselves..
I was always proud to have been associated with Hotpoint, but not any longer……. -
