I ask for a brief description,
Off they go into the life story of the machine. I ask where they live, oh I now where that is so they give me street by street instructions even though I know the area like the back of my hand

My favourite at the moment is when the customer says it will only take 10 minutes to do — we had one obnoxious character phone, told my wife it will only take me 10 minutes at most to do the repair.
Her response was if you know what’s wrong and how long it’s going to take, why do you need us to repair it? 😆 :rotfl:

This job would be easy if it wasn’t for those pesky customers 🙂

Its about time spare where made unavailable to all except trade clients.Oh really?
I think that may well be the single most ill conceived statement I’ve read for a while that didn’t come from a member of the public who, I fully expect to be completely clueless.
I do not expect it from professionals that are supposed to be educated. More so from one that advocates education so rigourously.
Before you fire back, take a step back, take a breath, think, pause for some reflection then think about it again.
By that logic we will close B&Q, Homebase, Plumb Centre or Wolsley completely, virtually every car part supplier in the land, including Halfords, any electrical store that sells so much as a light switch, you’ll need an engineer to change cartridge heads in your printer, you won’t be able to buy a single component for a PC…. the list just goes on and on and, on, and on…
I’m sure if you were forced to go back to Ford Vauxhall, VW or whoever and pay whatever ransom they demanded for spare parts or service you’d be completely fine with that. That is what you are, in effect, proposing, that a monopoly on all is okay.
If you choose to apply those rules to one then you must apply it to all. But it isn’t so nice when the shoe’s on the other foot perhaps.
Which makes it a completely idiotic notion at best and likely to breach numerous bits of consumer legislation. Not least of which would be the Monopolies & Merger Act, Competition Act, EU Competition Act and I’m just getting warmed up on how many rules that would break.
Before you get that the pigs will be flying in formation over Buckingham Palace with an escort of unicorns. Possibly with a display of some other mythical creature to complete the ensemble.

It was, l thought at least, an obvious tongue in cheek comment.
In this industry you need to have a sense of humor.
Sorry. Martin please sir, continue with your serious drivel.
