Had a nursery write to me to say they won’t be able to use my services anymore until I get a certificate. ‘Safe guarding policy.’
I spoke to them Monday and said I would get it sorted as I’m sure I will be needing it for other schools etc. I made the comment that if the machine went wrong in the mean time whats the score. ‘The Head will make a decision’ said the office manager.
Well would you believe it, they blocked the machine up today. I went today and sorted it. But before I went to the staff utility room I mentioned the CRB check and was told its ok for today as the children are all in the hall.
Fifteen years i’ve been going to that nursery, 6 times in the last year. Rules for rules sake I think.

The CRB is only good if you have been caught.
One day they will wake up to the fact it does not guarantee safety for children. :rolls:

Its a bit of standard policy now with most companies, letting agents, councils etc, its not that difficult to do but its another form to fill in and send off and it all takes time, the latest I’ve had is H&S accreditation otherwise we cant work at the Universties anymore, even though I have less than 5 employees I still have to get certified by the CHAS scheme, great name for it though lol :rolls:

i suppose if no-one has a cert then they cant get their appliances fixed??
what do they do then … get a new one delivered ..but wait are the delivery guys checked??
got to laugh especially at colledges/uni,s ….do all pupills get checked??

Fair point. But its more convenient for me to get the CRB check done than go after hours.
I’ve got a couple of months to sort it before the filter needs unblocking again. 😉

i look After The Local Schools And Special Needs Units In My Area Don’t Need Cbr Checks But I Have A Member Of Staff Constantly With me in The room While I’m Repairing They Even Walk To The Van With Me While I’m getting Parts.
My Mate Asked me a While Ago If I Could Mind His Boy While His Dad Was in Hospital. I Said no Problem But His Mrs Asked me Don’t Tell Anyone I Asked Why She Is A Social Worker And I Could Be Prosecuted For Minding Someone Else’s Child For More That Five Hours a Week You Have To Register. I Said That’s Ridiculous We Have Known Each Other For Over Forty Years Apparently it Dosent Mater
