I wondered if anybody could point me in the right direction to create a website for my appliance repair buisness.
I’m looking for something that is easy to set up using maybe a template and is not too expensive.
There seems to be so much choice and I have been looking at “Vistaprint”,but not sure if it’s really what I’m after,as it doesn’t look as relevant as I would like.
I would also be very interested in any tips that anybody may have regarding cost, content,or if I might be better off getting somebody to do it who knows what they are doing.

I know a little about that stuff. 😉

First step, IMO, is to buy your own domain name and own it, you can do that using Fasthosts (who I use normally) or a plethora of others.

Do that and you have your own domain that you own ad can do with what you like which looks much better IMHO. You also get your own email that looks so, so more professional like bob@appliancefixit.com as opposed to some third party advertising in there.

Once that’s sorted, then you can think about a website. 😉

We use and develop on Joomla, a highly flexible content management system which we’ve used for UKW, Rapport, NWAR, the WTA and others as you can muck about and get what you want from it. There’s a massive range of add-ons and modules as well.

There’s a massive amount of support for it.

    It’s easy to use.

And, most of all though as it’s open source, it’s free.

So, as long as you’ve a bit of nonce you can set up a domain, install Joomla and have a funky all-singing and dancing website for little more cost than your time to do it.

    K.
