ParticipantHi,
We have a Creda tumble drier, model show in subject. This has for some time been taking a very long time to dry a normal load. Normally the low setting would be used for delicates, but now this takes a very long time and the problem seems to be that the drum is not getting hot enough. Even on the High setting, it only produces what we would consider a low amount of heat. Fluff filter is always emptied and there does not seem to be any blockage, but I wondered if this machine has two heating elements and whether one of them might have failed.
Have you seen this before on this machine? If you think that the likely solution is to replace a failed element, could you please advise on the price and difficulty level of fitting. I am skilled at DIY and have performed electrical servicing on many varied devices.
Thanks for your advice,Alan

The dryer does have two elements, they are within a complete heater assembly. Easy access to test ( before ordering any parts) from behind the small back panel. I don’t have my main PC fired up ATM to access part numbers, will do so later if required. It might help to give the full serial number as well, be sure to remove the mains plug first.
A loose fan or blocked or crushed outlet hose can also cause the fault. An easy way to test for outlet obstructions is to run the machine with the vent hose disconnected. That is assuming it is a vented dryer of course.
On very rare occasions the high/ low switch can fail as well.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Just checked and find that this is a condensor dryer, the element for this model is very expensive, around £87.00.
You don’t mention checking the condensor, the large, removable unit situated just above the water container. This should be removed and cleaned on a regular basis, at least once a month or more if the dryer gets heavy use. Best done outside with a hose or better still a pressure washer.
There are two stats above the element and also one just inside the door surround at the top. The one inside the door can cause this fault as well.

Hi and thanks so much for the rapid response. I will do the checks suggested before deciding whether to invest in the replacement parts. The only reason why I have doubts about this is that we are considering a new machine :-), but if we can get another year or two out of it then I consider it money well spent.
FYI, the serial number of this machine is : 53100247Thanks again,
Alan.
