I fitted a new gen electronic timer in early january

client has just contacted me,, they suffered 2 quick power cuts this morning

since then the you can not set timer unit,,clock flashes dashes and AUTO
by press combination of buttons as per manual..nothing moves or indeed does any button fuction

I have suggested a de power overnight, not sure if there is a capacitor supply internally..will revisit via phone wednesday

any other ideas of help welcome.. I hope timer is not shot it ( expensive or what) because of voltage surge. surley it should be protected from such variation of supply

    regards

Sadly it sounds like it’s damaged, 😥 you could try QER etc they might be able to repair

Perhaps it`s an idea to get your customer to contact their electricity supplier or who ever was responsible for the power cuts/surges.
Sure your customer would have a strong case for recompense if there was a known problem with the supply at the time. It`s not totally uncommon for electronics to fail under these circumstances.

    Hi Bryan
In our area the supply company have an added clause to thier contracts saying that they will not be responsible for any domestic appliance failure 😥 and they stick to it.
I had three customers with failed compressors on their fridges, all the same type(Candy) and in the same area all from the same power cut. I even gave them each others names so they could have a collective “go” and a report from me. The supply company just laughed at them, must have good lawers 😥

    was expecting the worst

surely Creda should have some form of built in protection for power surges on electronic kit like this, after all it was not cheap even at trade price.

what do you think creda’s response might be

tricky situation this but if push comes to shove at the end of the day its not your fault, the timer has failed due to external factors outside of your control most ppl would see this if explained. Have to say that our leccy company gives a 50 quid gesture of goodwill with no future comeback under power surges/spikes. i have had a few customers get this.

This one’s down to the customer to sort to be honest, it’s neither Creda’s or your fault this has happened.

As mentioned it’s a delicate situation but I wouldn’t be left out of pocket over this. The supply is to the customer’s house, their problem to resolve and take the power supplier to task over it 😉

    Dave.
