First post so please be kind.

I’ve been attempting to fix a Creda 48171 with a non working grill.

The element checks out OK both by meter and comparison/substitution with a new one.

The secondary cooling fan runs when the simmerstat/energy controller is turned on but the element does not get hot.

So, the question is, where next? The overheat cut-out relay, the energy regulator or what?

    Thanks for all suggestions.

    Hi Rob,

Most probably the energy regulator on that machine from memory if the element is okay.

The only safety stat I can see as such is a fan control one.

    Hi K,

Many thanks for the reply. There definitely is an overheat cutout device on the grill as well. I’m guessing this should be closed circuit if it’s OK?

I’ll haul the thing out again and check. If it is closed circuit then I’ll change the regulator.

Yep, usually they will open to cut the power, normally live.

its your simmer stat( two feeds )one to fan then to elements.
some models have door switch ,on the door hinge
