Its the Concept Solarplus model and it is getting on in years but likely to be cheaper to fix in short term.

Any ideas whether it is likely to be the grill element or the energy regulator/simmerstat or whatever control? And how do you work it out?

    Is this the stat: http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/Cooker+{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} … lator.html

The grill element is ‘easier’ to work out!

    Thanks
    James

Does it have a solar grill element or the standard bar elements?

Either way you can access the terminals from the back to test the elements once you have isolated the cooker from the mains of course.

Usually one side of the element will go before the other.

Correct regulator is a 6204036 or its Indesit number which is C00229540.

If it is the element that is at fault and you do have the solar grill in it then take care if you order one. Check the parcel as soon as it arrives, even from trade suppliers I usually get every other one of these with the glass tubes broken on delivery. 😥

The part you have linked to is an oven thermostat, not a regulator. 😉

Also that price is about £10 to £15 over the top. :rolls:

    Quick response thanks.
    Standard bar elements.
    Failed all at once.
    Therefore regulator seems more likely?

It would point to that but its still best to test the elements first. If it has the bar type elements then it is just possible to remove them from inside the cavity to test them without pulling the back off. In most cases though they will tend to look distorted or split if they have failed.

Changing the regulators is quite a difficult job on these machines so making sure you do need it is advisable. 😉

I have a similar problem. How should I test the elements? Presumably with a multimeter but what resistance should it show? Thanks GM

The actual resistance isn’t that important TBH, it’s more to check if the element has been become open circuit.
