ParticipantI have this job – client reporting oven taking a long time to heat up.
I checked it out, it appears that the thermostat is working correctly and very accurate temperature readings.
No heat escaping from the door apart from through cooling vent which is normal.
Am I right in assuming that the fan element is the culprit? The fan is working well, good distribution of heat.
It takes 20 mins to heat up 200deg. I would have thought 10mins is the bench mark. It’s a quite a small oven though.
And can anyone please explain to me how to use the search facility? I can’t seem to get what I am looking for and starting to miss the old style forum

i assume since you mention the fan it is the main oven you suspect as being faulty
in my opinion there is nothing wrong with it 10 mins is quite a short time to get everything in the oven to 200 degrees.
elements normally either work or they dont so it cant be that.
I assume the light stays on till it reaches temp so the stats ok.
why were you called to this? was this the fault they were complaining about ?Dave

The fault turned out to be the element was rather weak. The resistance was quite high thus lowers the wattage to the element a difference of 400 watts between the old and new. The power output was 2.5kw for the oven element so it should give out good heat. (I worked on a Bosch previously with half moon element 1.8kw – this warmed up the oven in 10 mins at 200deg) The new element seems to have improved the warming up time by few minutes. I remained unconvinced but the client seems happy.
The lights was on for quite some time on the old element but with the new one, it seems to operate well. The reason I was called to the job was the grill element was bent and the client could not make cheese on toast then later on she commented on the oven taking a long time to warm up.
However I considered the case closed with compromise. If she calls me out again, then I will have to try the door seal.

i suppose element may have been a bit out since it was made not a fault i have noticed or been asked about by clients
bosch oven is a smaller cavity so less room to heat up which may account for a quicker heat up time on a smaller element
thanks for posting results helps us all learn
