ParticipantThe main oven was only cooking on fan cooking , whether the selector switch was in the fan or side element [static] cooking position. I found that one of the tracks to a relay on the pcb was blown, and after repairing it the oven cooked on both fan and static elements at the same time.
The fan/static selector switch is ok. Does anybody know if there’s anything else that could cause this apart from a sticking relay on the pcb?The blown pcb track had obviously had a massive current through it to judge from the damage, and the customer found the 30A circuit breaker tripped, presumably from when it blew. There’s no sign of a short circuit or earth fault anywhere on the oven though.
What’s the purpose of the pcb? Does anybody have a schematic diagram for this cooker?
Thanks.
Geoff

There is something called ” Boost Control ” on that range I think I remember. Does it perhaps use both sets of elements to preheat oven for a period?

Thanks for that seamy; you could be right. The customer said he normally hears the fan running and then shutting off. The pcb is called a booster board. I’ll go back and run the oven up to temperature and see what happens. It still doesn’t explain why the side element relay track blew though, as the elements are both ok and not down to earth.

Now ive got this oven to look at and the same relay contacts are dry jointed/burnt out on boost control PCB. Have replaced board and find that all elements and fan are running in side oven mode when switched on ie when the seperate stat is turned up the fan/ fan element comes on but when turned down the fan continues to run. Does it have a timer and i havent left it long enough for the fan to go off? 😕
Fan oven mode appears ok.Regards
