creda hob replacement solarspeed element 1800w model 42297

Hi,on replacing halogen 1800w element it stays on all the time unless i throw power switch off.The old element just stopped working though last used it was turning on/off ok.

I have been told the wiring may be different from original but i dont have wiring sheet.Help please.
