ParticipantSince the Merloni take-over of GDA, I notice that the supply of Creda/Hotpoint Manuals are getting ‘rarer than hens teeth’. I have an order (via Wash Vac) for a Hotpoint Manual going back serveral weeks now with still no joy.
Don’t tell me they’ve pulled the plug on that too?

Martin, do you know the part number of the manual ?
I can check with GDA for you, I have a direct account with them.
As fas a I remember from an eralier thread about Indesit/Ariston service manuals (which they don’t supply) the Hotpoint one’s should still be OK.
Regards.
Dave.

Martin, are you able to cancel the order with Washvac ?
I tried to order this manual on the GDA Partfinder disk and recieved a pop up reply “This part is used in manufacture/assembly only and is not available as a spare part”
So, I emailed the spares manager at GDA asking him if this is correct and if so, is this the case for all Hotpoint/Creda service manuals. Ten minutes later I recieved a reply “Dave, I have ordered one for you” 😯
I didn’t actually ask him to, but obviously he assumed the manual was required by me. This isn’t a problem though as it will be worth a look. If you can cancel the order with Washvac (it shouldn’t be aproblem as they will probably never get it anyway) and PM me you’re address I’ll post it to you when I revieve it.

Crikey! What are Merloni playing at (shooting themselves in the foot is my first thought) by stopping this kind of info to us in the trade?
Why don’t they realise that if you fully co-operate with the trade totally, more and more business will come their way. GDA came to that conclusion 15/20 years ago ( on second thoughts, perhaps thats why they tripped and fell with Merloni licking their wounds)
Any road up….Yes Dave, do please get me the Manual if you can, my address is on my www. or e-mail or pm or even tie it to a pigeons chuff as they know where I live (most of the c**p on my garden anyway!)
Keep smilin’ and many many thanks for the trouble, you shouldn’t.

Thanks to Dave Conway I am now the proud owner of a Hotpoint Aquarius WMA40/42/44/46 & WMA48 Service Manual. It contains priceless information inside, ‘Service Test Sequence Guide’, Error Codes, Fault Finding Charts, even a Wiring Diagram that shows where all the white wires go and where all the black wires ought to go.
My life will totally change for the better now I know that the Mains Filter Capacitance should read 0.47mf + 2x15000pF +or- 2{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} and that the ‘Final spin’ light flashing at the end of the cycle is perfectly normal if the wash load was found to be OOB…. You see..it’s what you know and all in the Manual.
Mind you, got to put my Services Charges up now to Merloni rates, Oh yes!
