KeymasterI have a Creda Reversair sensadry,
it is about 6 years old and has a bad squeak.
It used to only squeak in one direction but now it is squeaking in both.
One direction is much noisier than the other.
I have had the back of near the fan, and it seem the noise is coming from frther inside the machine. Does not sound like bearings ie not rumbling.
any ideas??
ThanksJuly 7, 2005 at 10:02 pm #140862litlor

We need a model number but you will probably find the belt pulley is noisy userly removing and cleaning it will cure the problem if not replace it not expensive
Power off when checking please

Almost certainly 2 jockey pulleys on this machine, should always be changed as a pair, not too expensive. Why not look here

as stated above normal reason for squeek is the belt tensioner pulleys but be careful tumble driers do not rumble when the bearings go as they use plasic skates and felt bearings which are quiet until the last minute and then normally make a scraping noise
if it is the belt pulley should be part no x245677 and if it is a reversible drier it will have 2 of them
above part no is most common pulley and should be the one on yours but double check part no as my info is not to hand
you could try wd40 to acertain the definate fault

Correct part number after 1996
Funnily enough, looking at PF I have just noticed that this machine was sold as a Sensordry in EIRE and a Sensadry in the UK. 😕

Thanks guys,
Took the bottom panel of the dryer tonight to reveal two rollers to tension the bely. removed the Pullies to find that the brearings had shifted making the plastic rollers rub against the metal roller housing.
Tapped the rollers back into position and lubricated using spray PTFE.
Noise has gone, as good as new.
Thanks for your help.October 30, 2005 at 4:37 pm #140870wanji

My creda had all the above symptoms, but before I got around to fixing those pulleys, the drive belt broke.
I have the part numbers, the Dryer is a 37742, and the belt is WG305880 from CPC. Question though..
When I fit the new belt, it’s going to have to get around the drum somehow. The front (door) side looks pretty inaccessible, it’s an air-tight sliding seal to the vent filter at the front of the machine. At the rear is a kind of earthed bearing. Any pointers on the correct (and easy) approach to getting the belt on?Thanks in advance,
Anji

We cannot go into precise details for safety/legal reasons, make sure you unplug the machine if you are going to proceed further, as a hint upside down and from the front, do not touch the console panel. If in doubt have a look in Repairs@ to see if we have someone in your area, not a difficult job if you know what you are doing, I see more people make a mess of tumble dryer belt changing than most other faults.

Reporting back as promised.
Drive-belt fitted no problem, thanks for the upside-down-front tip iadom. Whilst inside (where does all that lint come from!) I checked the tension pulleys. One had migrated along its axle just as another contributor here had mentioned. Quick tap with the toffee-hammer and it’s back into place. Didn’t have any PTFE spray though, so gave the axle a tiny drop of 3-in-one. Reassembled, reinverted, and off it went like a dream. Hasn’t been that quiet since we bought it.
Thanks for the advice – these forums do make interesting reading. I’ll keep lurking and picking-up product reliability advice, we’re planning a new kitchen in 2006, with all new white goods. It’s always good to buy something that those in-the-know speak well of!BFN
