ParticipantHi All,
Please forgive any mishaps as this is my first time on any of these forums.I have a Creda Reversair Sensadry in which the rear bearing is worn (I think!). The noise is a horrible metal on metal sound that comes and goes. What I would like to know is, does anyone know how to access this and also how to change etc. There are lots of screws and I don’t want to take the lot out and the whole thing collapse on me. Just thought somebody on here might know how I can access this so I can identify so to find a replacement hopefully on here.
Many thanks for any help given.

Hi,
What do you mean by read this, do you need the model number? If so there is a sticker on the back that says 5kg 37751, hope this helps.October 11, 2013 at 10:17 pm #402666iadom

That is exactly what I meant, almost 40 different models of Reversair. 😉
You can check on the rear bearing by first of all removing the mains plug and then taking off the rectangular rear fan and heater cover. You will then be able to see the rear bearing, dead centre. They don’t fail that often on these earlier machines but do go occasionally.
If the drum shaft is not damaged then it is a simple job to change the bearing from there. If it has been left to long then the drum shaft mat be damaged. I think that this older model has the drum shaft rivetted to the drum, later models used screws. It is possible to drill out the rivets and fit the later drum shaft most of the time.

Hi,
Many thanks for your reply. I have looked inside and the part you mentioned is riveted. From the back there is a circlip and washer nothing else. Is there something else on the inside as there doesn’t seem much to it, just a hole with a shaft going through it. What about the drum, can that rub on anything at all?

The rear bearing is just a tiny, square phosper bronze block. You need to remove the small copper/brass earthing strip, take the circlip and washer off, remove that and you will see the rear bearing.
At the age of your machine it may even have the earlier, plastic square bearing, they lasted for donkeys years unlike the last few years when they fail in no time at all due to the different drive belt set up.
TBH the rear bearings didn’t cause many problems on the older machines but the square bronze bearing is an exact replacement if needed.
The drum front bearing pads can also wear, much harder to get at those TBH.
