ParticipantCalled to the above oven and had exactly the same problem as Squaman http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=28559&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=creda+oven+live
I spent a similar time and probably used some similar words.I traced the live back to the selector which then didn’t appear to switch to any lives (& no sign of burnt contacts).
Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this model and maybe an idea where the thermostat would have been that he found?

Have you actually removed the selector switch and examined it very closely ?
The reason that I ask is that I tought that I had checked the selector switch which as far as my initial inspection showed no faults. But when I examined the switch a second time under better lighting I found the problem.

I didn’t remove the selector switch but used a mirror and torch, couldn’t see any burn marks or damaged contacts. Also done a continuity test across the contacts that were actuated as a double check.
The odd thing with this was I traced the wires back to the selector then through the contacts and via the links to see where the live should come from but it didn’t appear to pick up the live from anywhere. I wondered if there was a link across a couple of the contacts that had burnt away without a trace but thought extremely unlikely!

It looks as if I’m going back to take the switch out.
Has anyone got a wiring diagram I can take with me in case?

I could only think it was a link gone but I couldn’t see any trace of one having blown.
Any suggestions which contacts would have been linked?

When you get that switch out I reckon it will be apparent:

turn the switch upside down and you might see a metal clip linking two terminals. it caught me out ,an old rewireable fuse wasnt fast enough to stop the surge blowing this link when the element blew. customer now has MCB’s fitted.

Participantif you look at the switch, with the wires facing up, its about four wires in from the front, on the left hand side
hope that helps

Thanks for the advise Judging by your comments it has to be the selector.
I have ordered a switch to go back with, I’m not going to check first as the way this is installed into the housing the least times it taken in and out the better. It’s supported on two narrow cross members with not a lot of fixing either side, once it’s pulled forward it rests on only one!
I’ll let you know the outcome.
Thanks.

Just to close this, I returned with a new selector switch, when the old selector was removed and turned over you could just make out the burn between two contacts.
Thanks everyone for the advise,
Keith.
