ParticipantHi All,
I have a Creda Sensair tumble dryer that I inherited from a mate of mine a few years ago. It has an “ecosense” function that stops it running when the clothes are dry but this sensing has stopped working for one of the “ecosense” settings. The are two positions on the control, one marked with a small green “e” amd the other with a capital “E”. Never having had the user guide for this machine we’ve always set it to the “e” position and that one now just keeps on hot tumbling, even when the clothes are dry. I tried it today on the “E” setting and that seems to still work OK as it switched to the cool setting on the dial and then automatically stopped. I’m assuming that a sensor has packed up but can’t find any information about the machine or spare sensors on the web. Can anyone tell me what the two different “E” settings are for and even better, where I might be able to get spares to fix it. Online spares sites I’ve looked at don’t list any kind of tumble dryer sensors at all!December 23, 2005 at 11:23 am #158821iadom

Model number would be a big help. 😉
The drying on one of this type of machine is controlled by a fairly expensive electronic module. It senses a small current fed through the clothes and measures the increase in resistance as the clothes dry. there are three thermostats to control overall temperature and prevent overheating etc. There are no separate ‘sensors’ for high or low heat.
There are at least three variants called Sensair. The older models use a completely different system.December 23, 2005 at 12:06 pm #158822fatbellybinky

I’m at work but will post the exact model number when I get home. I have spotted two small silver “domes” near the outlet which I assume are thermostats of some kind so wondered if they had anything to do with the “ecosense” feature.

OK, it’s model number is 37653E. I’ve confirmed from the online user guide for a 37654E that the “e” and “E” are for small/medium loads and large loads respectively so it would appear that the ecosense isn’t working for the small/medium load setting.

There is a slight problem with parts ID for that model. It is listed as a Currys exclusive 1994/1996. however the parts ID show two different drums, the later drum is after date code 53 which is May 1998.??
Also on the diagram of the two drums, for the later model it does not show the sensor etc and for the earlier model it shows all the parts connected with the sensing operation but they are not in the parts list. The parts ID software from the Indesit company is known to be riddled with anomolies. Having said that, there is only one sensor that I can see, so your problem will more than likely lie elswhere.
What is the date code ( the first two numbers of the serial number) of your dryer?December 23, 2005 at 6:31 pm #158825johnnyj

If my memory serves me correctly there are 2 eco stas in these machines one for half load and one for full load if these are faulty this could give these symtoms as can the timer i’m afraids.there was also a wiring mod to these stats to enhace the sensor drying performance.

Hmm – the only label I can find is the small white one on the back which has the model number and power rating but no obvious serial number on that. Is the serial number likely to be found inside on some other ident plate ?

Usualy in the door area either on the door or on the front panel.

Nope – not a sausage – just a label reminding you to clean the filter after each use. Oh well, thanks to all those who replied anyway – at least the dryer stills works so we can live without the eco-sense function. when I get a bit of time I’ll have a poke around inside incase there’s anything obvious like a broken wire to the controller.
