Hi All,
I am a newbie to this stuff, but reasonably competent with electrical and mechanical work.
The bearing has gone on this machine – characteristic rumble/scream on spin (even on slow rotation) and a leak from the little hole in the rear of the drum.
I gather that once the drum is out I split it and replace the bearings and, possibly, the spider.
I am not in a hurry so can afford to check what needs replacing once the machine is dismantled.
My key question is: how do I get the drum out: does it come out of the front or the top of the machine?
I can see how I can detach the top, the concrete weight, the springs and the belt.
I don’t know how to detach the upright supports, the water in and water out connections or the door seal. Also (only needed if it comes out of the top) the powder dispenser drawer housing.
The door seal is secured on the front of the machine by a wire band: hooks at the end of the wire engage with a ridged fitting by the door. Is this where I disconnect the seal? Or does it disconnect at the drum.
Grateful for any advice.
Regards to all and thanks in advance.

Tub unit is removed through the front of the machine. Release door seal at front and pull the lip off the front panel. Remove control panel. Release door lock. Remove front panel. Press clip and remove pins from suspension legs. Release bottom hose. Release all wiring to tub – make diagrams – we can’t help you put it all back!. Remove inner front panel, soap box hose and flip box back out of the way; then you can lift it all out and the pain really starts.
Bearing kit is HERE.
Drum support is HERE.HTH,

Many thanks – I did not realise the whole front panel came off and was wondering how the drum would fit through the round hole! Well I did say I was a Newbie! I will take it slow.
My first look at the control panel only showed a couple of screws at the powder dispenser end. Is the control panel simply clipped in at the other end, or are there more screws please?
Your warning about making diagrams noted and taken to heart – thanks. My plan is to draw diagrams on a piece of cardboard, and to push the screws into the cardboard at the right place on the diagram. Maybe take photos too. If it all works I will put it on the Web.

Thanks for the tip – I thing I am OK as the bits I can see have screws rather than welding.

There are no hidden screws, beyond the two bottom ones under the kick panel, which will just unclip. This is a patience job…….

Hi again – and thanks for all the tips.
Had to drill out the T30 Torx bolts securing the spider but it is off now and the machine apart …
… but I can’t remove the remains of the larger, front bearing from the tub. There is an inner lip to the bearing support housing that stops me getting a purchase on it to knock it out. Is this where I need a puller to pull it out?
Assuming that I can do this, what Drum Support & Spider Kit do I need please? Will it come with a new set of Torx screws for the spider 😕
My guess is Spider 1604290 and bearings 1604473.
… oh, and I need a new securing bolt for the back of the spider shaft as I had to welly the old one so hard the head is utterly trashed – protecting the end of the spider which I am now going to throw away!

Sensible way forward from here is order up the following:
1605082 – tub rear half c/w bearings and seal.
1604290 – drum support.
1603339 – pulley bolt
1603354 – screw – drum/spider – you may need up to 6.email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for price and ordering.

Hi Penguin45
Once again thanks for your advice and quick replies. I have emailed for prices. It may not be economic, but at least I will know, and I am pleased to have been through the stripdown process – if it is beyond repair at least I know it is, and am not wondering … !
Regards
