Hi there, The catch on the door broke – I think it was forced. I’ve fitted a new one but the door mechanism is lockedso I can’t close the door. How can I unlock it? Thankyou very much for any advice. Jonwor

Please don’t post two identical questions in different forums, it only leads to confusion.

    Other thread deleted.

If it has been forced then its likely to have damaged the door interlock switch.

If the interlock is OK then you may be able to release it by pushing the slide slightly to the right. It could be that the interlock failed first causing the problem with the latch.

Thanks for the above advice Ian. The interlock won’t shift. Also the handle on the door won’t depress so it seems like the machine is stuck in the lock position. Is there anything can be done other than calling out an engineer?

You could try and release the front panel to gain access to the door interlock. Sometimes if they are jammed then the only option is to physically bend the door interlock until it breaks then replace with a new one. You may end up breaking the new latch again as well though. Be sure to remove the mains plug first.
