ParticipantHi, first time I have come across a cooker showing an error code. Anyone any idea what the code may mean.
It’s out of my area so I haven’t seen it yet. Customer says it beeped and then shows ER08
Many thanks

Bit more info in this one…
Full model number SO77EEW S/n 501220420 (Another number 0332563000 on rating plate)
I have now seen the machine. It is all electronic… God, is this the way forward 😕
It has a digital control panel with a microprocessor board just above the oven cavity 😯
On arrival it had ER08 showing on the display. Turning it off and on made no difference.
I checked all elements for continuity and earth leakage… all fine.
The temperature is controlled by an NTC device.
In a bid to prove the NTC was ok I disconnected it to check the error code. Now showing ER01 ( btw, the cooling fan was limping round very slowly at this point)
With the NTC reconnected the appliance now seemed to work OK with no error code showing
However…
It has an indicator that flashes when the appliance is preheating and it should be on constant when the temperature is reached together with an audible bleep (according to the user instructions). However, although the heater was cycling on and off, the indicator remains flashing with no audible bleep. I tested it at 140, 180 and 210C.
The cooling fan did not come on either until I turned the temperature setting up to 210C!
My gut feel is that the NTC is faulty as that is the only component that I disconnected.
Any help to confirm this would be much appreciated and a part number for the NTC would help.
Thanks

Managed to suss this one. With a little help from a Hotpoint buddy…
The ER 08 code is for an overheated module.
Possible (likely) causes are:
Too high ambient temperature
Faulty cooling fan
Bad installation (restricted ventilation)
Faulty PCB.In my case, as the cooling fan will not come on until I select over 210C, I suspect the main PCB
Fancy putting an Eprom board in such a situation. Is this what to expect in the future?
