ParticipantBoth the single and double grill on my creda solarspeed (model 48361) are not working, the fan comes on but the elements do not heat up. The top oven works fine. I’ve read that it could be the energy regulator, could this be the likely cause and if so what is the part no.
Thanks,

Is the grill a high speed solar grill or has it got conventional, solid elements?
It could be faulty elements so an electrical test of both elements would be the first thing to test before risking ordering a regulator. Changing the elements is not difficult, changing the regulator is.
When you turn the grill temp control either way can you hear a faint click?

the elements are the conventional type, when initialy turning on the grill a faint click can be heard as the fan starts (this has always beeen the case). Would it be usual for both elements to go together?.
Thanks

It would but its not unheard of, it really is the most sensible thing to check them first.

I’ve just checked the element and it’s reading 44.5 ohms.

ParticipantThanks for the advice, I’ve ordered the part from your link. Do I need to take the top off to replace this part & is it just a straight forward swap out?

😉
Not for the fainted hearted, both sides, hob and some of the facia have to be removed.
Not always a straight swap either, in the past if a part had been superceded Hotpoint would inlcude new fitting instructions. Since the takeover by the Indesit Company that no longer happens. :rolls:

Managed to replace the reglulator yesterday – part came with some brief instructions which helped – took longer to clean all the knobs and holders etc. – grill now working thanks for the advice.
