Creda Spacesaver D/Wash – no heat

Hi folks

went to one of these to day mod No 18504E – built in job – and it doesn’t stop to heat up.. just clicks through as if heat reached.. checked wiring loom in door looks ok.. this is a real pig to get out so had to rebook.. would like to be prepared before hand what prob might be – suspect thermostat or timer.. but any help appreciated..

Cannot offer any clues on fault, can only say that these are a horrid little machine, several parts already obsolete. I may have a wiring diagram if you think that may help.

Prob’ly be resetable trip on heater tripped, probable cause a blockage in pressure system, check pressure hose and for gunge in pressure chamber which can be accessed below the filter in tub heater is situated on the right hand side.

If I remember right, the timer motor is in series with the heater on these machines. An earth fault on the heater will give a [neutral] supply to the timer motor and advance the timer.

Have you meggared the heater?

Done a few heaters on these, always blocked presure chamber blowing the heater. As Bob said this stops the timer from advancing everywhere. Sounds more like a thermostat fault if heater not to earth.

Sad really… I woke up two o’clock this morning thinking about this. 🙁

During the heat pause, the timer motor is shorted out by the nc thermostat contacts allowing 240v to the heater. When it reaches temperature the stat opens and the timer motor is then in series with the heater allowing the timer to advance out of the heat pause. The timer motor then stays in series with the heater for the rest of the program. This is why an open circuit heater on this machine will give the impression that the timer is stuck anywhere in the cycle.

Therefore it must be the thermostat (or wiring) faulty in your case.

Thanks for your help on this one folks.. checked fill levels and removed filter looked at heater for signs of overheating all seem ok.. as I siad this is a pig to get out and m/c pluged in at back of m/c :rolls: so no chance of megering heater n m/c without load of grief.. checked with connect and most parts special order so customer thinking about whether to go ahead with repair or not atm.. looks like stat or shorted wiring from everybodies comments which is what I suspected so thanks for the imput..

Thanks for the offer of wiring diagram Jim.. may take you up on that if job gets a go ahead just incase it’s not the stat..
