ParticipantCreda TCR2 Tumble Dryer and try as I might I cannot get the lid off. I didn’t need to as it happened as I discovered the float switch was the problem. But I still would have liked to lift the lid and take a gander in! 🙁
Now it is my understanding that you simply remove the rear fixing screws, lift the lid at the back slightly then give a sharp fisted blow to the front of the lid for it to disengage from the fascia panel and slide backwards….I may be wrong?
Short of risking smashing the fascia panel I gave up but not after trying all ways to shift the soddin’ thing….. 👿
Lump hammer perhaps? 😐

It can take a serious crack with the ball of the hand and sometimes several blows before it slides back.
Not easy when the customer is close by.
Perhaps a stanley knife blade slid between the lid and base will help as it may be seals or adhesive making it difficult to shift.

But I am right in thinking it’s the same as all the other sorts of Hotpoint/ Indesit washer and dryers then? Just whack it and it should give…….funny then how this SOAB won’t shift….??? 🙁

lift the back of the lid put a broad blade screwdriver in the gap fairly far forward and twist GENTLY so that the top edge of the screwdriver pushes the lid backwards. works for me.

:hmm: Not sure exactly where you suggest the screwdriver be placed wilf TBH but I will give it a go, thanks. IIRC like with most Indecrap, the lid removes backwards to release from the fascia, so bashing it forwards is a no no?
With other t/d’s a w/m’s, I’ve just removed the 2 rear screws, lifted the lid slightly at the back then thumped them with the ball of the hand at the front to release. However this SOAB won’t comply to convention……….. 👿

Screw driver works well, used to whack it with palm but after a while it can hurt. You place the large flat screwdriver behind the flat of the tab and lever! It wont snap honestly 😉

sorry didnt make that clear put the screwdriver in the gap at the side of the between the lid and the side panel when the back of the lid is lifted slightly. on the righthand side a quater turn clockwise should do the trick
