ParticipantI have a Creda T620CW which when started from cold runs for a while and then stops, the water collector is empty.
At this point it will run while the Start button is pressed but stops immediately it is released.
If the unit is allowed to cool it will run again for a short period and then stops. It makes no difference what timer setting is used.
I’ve open it up and there are no obvious visible signs of a problem. There’s a relay in the middle top of the front that clicks when the start buttons is pressed and clicks again when it’s released and the fault is present.
Any ideas or an explanation of how this unit works would be gratefully recieved.
Thanks
Andy.

It’s a latching relay, to start and run the machine. Vibration gets them in the end.
P/no required is 1701157, an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for ordering.
Power off when fitting…

Penguin45, thanks for a very quick response. I took the relay out and it doesn’t appear to be a latching type. I feel that this is the defective part though as I measured the voltage across the coil and even when it’s present the relay doesn’t switch.
When it worked properly for once the relay had visibly switched.
I couldn’t find the part number in the shop that you mentioned as I wanted to compare it to the device I have in my hand. However a qucik search got me 1701624 which does look identical to the Schrack RM505730 that I have here.
There’s a smaller PCB mounted relay near to the one I’ve removed but that sounds like it’s working OK.
I guess what I need to know is
1) Is the relay that I have the one you were describing
and
2) If it’s not given that it appears to be defective should I just replace it or look at the other relay first.Sorry for the complication.
Andy.

That relay is not as common as the 1701624, but is almost certainly the cause of the problem. Quite a common fault. The two relays look identical but have different ratings.
