Creda T620CW Poor Drying Performance

Hi,

Just found this excellent forum and hope to be able to help as well as ask for help.

I have a Creda T620CW Condenser Dryer which doesn’t get as warm as it used to. Because of this the clothes are taking forever to dry. I have checked both thermostats (closed circuit when cold – open circuit when pushed in from behind) and both are convex so I think they are ok.

I have cleaned the condenser and the filters which leads me to think it’s the element. I even checked the low heat/high heat switch but that seemed fine too.

Anybody got any suggestions(apart from buying a new one 😉 )

Have you used a multimeter to check the element and wiring to the element?

Hi and thanks for your reply.

That is hopefully my job for this evening. What should the resistance be and what is the best way to check it? Do I disconnect the wires first? I’m assuming there is more than one element?

Did you re check the green spot stat after you pushed the base in. :rolls:

It is a ‘one shot’ safety device and pushing the base in ruins the stat.

You need to test them with the wires disconnected.

There is also another stat located at the inside top of the door surround.

Elements don’t fail that often and any damage is usually quite easy to see.

Thanks for your reply. I checked everything last night and everything passed with flying colours! I had another look through this forum and found a couple of posts that suggested an airflow problem.

I had already cleaned the filter and condenser but thought I’d check the filter housing in the door where the air passes down to the condenser. This was absolutely stuffed with fluff from years of hard work. I cleaned this out after removing the housing from the door and put everything back together.

It worked 😀 😀 !! The dryer is now behaving itself again. I assumed it was an electrical fault, that’ll teach me to assume! Thanks to everybody who helped and to this great forum.

Have the thermostats ever been changed on this machine and does one of them have a green spot of paint on it?

If they both click in and out when you press the base of each stat then it suggests that it has had the wrong stat fitted. ❓ 😕
