I looked at the above machine today that was tripping the RCD.

There was a slight earth fault but I found the inside of the machine had a lot more fluff inside than you would normally expect.

On closer inspection it appears to be due to a seal that goes between the duct from the fan on the rear of the motor to the condenser housing.

does anyone know if this seal is available separately or if it comes attached to part of the ducting?

Do you mean the foam seal, if that is adrift then it is not really the cause of the problem. If you mean the fan that is at the front of the dryer then very little fluff gets blown through there, That is the fan that sucks in cold air and blows it through the side of the condenser. If you take out the condenser you will see that from the ends it gets gunged up but from the side it is always clean. Excess fluff is usually down to drum seals. Tripping is often caused by water getting blown onto the element due to gunged up float chamber.

PS. The foam seal is not available as a spare but any similar strip of sealing material would do, its not a critical seal.

    Thanks iadom,

The rear bearing is worn and in need of changing but not down to the metal ‘yet’.

Can you see if the drum seals require replacing or do you go by the fact the machine is filling with fluff?

I will look at the float chamber when I go back.

    Many thanks,

    Keith.

Loads of fluff is almost always down to front or rear drum seal failure.

Front seal not listed separately, comes with front support plate, £29.60 + vat list price, P No: 1701159, rear seal 1703078 around £4.00.
