ParticipantHi, dryer rotates as normal with no heat, checked the 3 thermistors when disconnected and all have good continuity, as does the heater element. I suspect the reverse timer as there is power going into one of the terminals on it, but the wire coming from it to the heater element reads zilch, and not knowing which terminals are for what doesnt help. Guy in my not very local repair shop said when i enquired about this part that he’d been a washer/dryer repairman for hoover for years and had never had to replace the reversing timer. So here i am fellas, any ideas.

I changed a reversing timer in a similar Crusader model only last week for exactly this fault. Although not common it does happen.
No electronics in this machine so no thermistors either. A single thermostat and a safety cut out just above the heater and another stat in the door housing.
If you remove the reversing timer it is possible to rotate it with the small shaft sticking out of the bottom, very basic switch, easy to circuit test.
It is possible to do all the required tests without live current, much safer as well. 😉
Part number if required is 1701133.

Thnx for the reply, yes sorry, i have thermistors on the brain from work, thermostats i meant.
When the machine is running i have a live feed on the bottom wire (black and white) as i look from the side of the machine, and the single blue wire on the spade connector above that, which goes to the element, reads 0 volts (using croc clips). Im guessing these two connectors make up the feed for the element and the contact is not being made by the timer module.
Still just a bit wary as this is gonna set me back bout £50 i reckon and id hate to waste it.

List price of timer is just over £30 ex vat.
As I mentioned it is very easy to identify which connections on the reversing timer relate to the heater, a simple continuity test would confirm if they have failed. From memory it is contacts 1 & 2.
I just hope for your sake it is the timer that is mounted flat on the base and not the one mounted vertically under the motor mounting bracket. The one I did last wek was the latter and it is an absolute pig to get out. The scars are only just healing. 😥

This is the bit in question, it is mounted vertically but came out without too much hassle, did have to drill a small hole in the back of the machine to get to one of the screws. It is clearly visible when removing the side of the machine.
havent been able to find that price tho, can you say where that was from.

Drilling holes through the back is not really an option for those of us who like to maintain certain standards on our customers premises. 😉
The price I quoted is an official Indesit Company list price, the Internet is full of rip off spares retailers. 😥
Send an e-mail to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk you will get a fair price from here.
