ParticipantHello
My drier’s gone on the blink – drum and fan and lights all seem to work fine but the heater doesn’t come on.I’ve taken most of the panels off and found the heater coils and what I think are the thermostats. Checking them with my continuity tester they seem to be intact.
Any other suggestions? Above the thermostats is a funny looking brass-coloured leaf-type switch which doesn’t seem to have any effect on the working of the machine – any idea what this is?
Have photos of the thing and can e-mail them if they will help.
Thanks.

scl,
Your problem is exactly the same as many others in this forum with a Hotpoint or Creda Condensor Dryer. Its likely the Thermostat Kit is required. Read the other articles for further help on the subject and if you would like to purchase the parts then I include a link for your convenience : –

Thanks for the quick reply.
Yes that’s what I thought at first so that’s why I tested them with my electrical tester. However, thinking about it the circuit was probably still intact as I didn’t disconnect them. 😳
Will try again tonight and it they are the culprit will order and replace. Thanks again.

Yep.
Disconnected the thermostats and the one with the green dot has blown.
Ordered new ones. I remember reading somewhere that it’s good practice to replace both at the same time even though the other one is still working. Can’t find the thread though – can anyone shed any light?😆 hopefully if this works.

Yes replace them both – they are both supplied in the kit.
Also make sure there is no fluff blockages – check filter, door ducting and condenser as fluff build up can cause the stat to trip.
Pull the plug out before attempting any repair :plug:
